Abstract

Since sunflower is a highly open pollinated species, the production of homozygous lines is important for both genetic studies and hybrid seed production. Traditional methods require at least 6 generations to obtained homozygous lines. Embryo rescue method can both prevent embryo death and shorten the generation cycle by a few months. The response of the sunflower embryo rescue the method of embryo regeneration and the success of the method, the genotype of the plant; age, preparation, age homogeneity and sterilization of the embryo; the composition of the medium (sugar, hormone, vitamin, other nutrient additives) and environmental adjustments (moisture, photoperiod and temperature); culture time; After the culture, it is closely connected to the environment and trial pattern of the seedlings. In this review, international studies investigating the response of sunflower to the embryo rescue technique and these mentioned factors are gathered and examined.
