Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) Agriculture and Importance

Abstract

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is an industrial plant that is loved and consumed in the world and in our country. Due to its rich content, it is used not only in the food sector but also in other areas. However, in recent years, serious problems have been encountered in potato cultivation due to the difficulties experienced in certified seed. For this reason, many breeding studies and researches are carried out; the characteristics of domestic varieties are being developed. In addition, researches are carried out on seed production, storage and preservation to prevent disease spread. In this study, it has been compiled to emphasize potato cultivation and its importance.
