Abstract

This research was carried out to examine the health perception of nursing students and the affecting factors during the Covid-19pandemic process. The research was carried out descriptively with snowball sampling method between January-April2021 inTurkey.The sample of the study consisted of nursing students who agreed to participate in the study between the specified dates,who met the research criteria and were selected by snowball sampling method.“Sociodemographic Characteristics Form”and“Health Perception Scale”were used to collect research data. When the students'” Health Perception Scale” and its sub-dimensions mean scores were examined, it was found that the"Control Center Sub-Dimension"was18.31±3.13,the "Precision Sub-Dimension"was12.52±2.92, the"Importance of Health Sub-Dimension"was 11.21±2.00,and the"Self-Awareness Sub-Dimension"was found to be18.31±3.13.It was found to be11.06±1.93.The mean score of the Health Perception Scale was determined to be 53.10±5.90. It can be said that students' health perceptions are at a good level.It was determined that age, gender, income level, class level and smoking status affected health perception.In addition, it was determined that health status, eating habits and exercise status also affected the perception of health. It was found that the contact with people suspected or diagnosed with Covid-19, the presence of a diagnosis of Covid-19 in the immediate environment, and the vaccination status for Covid-19 also affected the perception of health. Finally, it was determined that students who defined their health as “very good” had higher health perceptions.
