Maize is an important cereal that is used as grain and concentrate feed, as well as by making silage. Sowing time is one of the criteria affecting both grain yield and silage yield. In the study carried out on planting according to the condition of the moon, which is an effective belief among the people, 3 different silage maize varieties were used. In the experiment, which was established in two different sowing times, new moon and old month, days to tasseling, plant height, green matter yield, dry matter yield, silage dry matter ratio, silage pH and stem, leaf and ear ratios were examined. As a result of the study carried out in Kahramanmaraş conditions in 2015, it was determined that plant height, dry matter yield and days to tasseling were affected by sowing times. Green matter yield was affected by the difference of between maize varieties. As a result of the study, it can be recommended to sowing in the old moon period in terms of earliness and in the new moon period in terms of increasing dry matter yield.
