Abstract

This study aims to compare the new performance ranking results obtained from the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) rankings of selected countries, which are updated and published annually. To this end, the application was carried out using Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods for the year 2025, considering the 4 criteria included in the CCPI index. The importance levels of the criteria were taken directly from the CCPI index report, and the climate change performance of the selected countries was ranked using the MARCOS, SPOTIS, and EDAS methods. The data used to rank the climate change performance of the selected countries was obtained from the official website where the CCPI statistics are published. Based on the results obtained, the countries with the highest performance in the climate change performance index were Slovakia, Romania, and Luxembourg, while the countries with the lowest performance were China and the United States. It has been determined that the ranking results obtained using MCDM methods show similarity with the original CCPI ranking, particularly for China and the US, which are at the bottom of the list. However, the ranking results obtained for Slovakia, Romania, and Luxembourg do not show the same degree of similarity with the original CCPI ranking, and the ranking results differ.
